Welcome to 2861 Mesa Alta Lane, Arroyo Grande, California where East meets West. This home is located arguably on Arroyo Grande's most desirable cul-de-sac with gorgeous dune and ocean views.

This fabulous and artistically designed home on .871 acres overflows with an abundance of Eastern influence landscaping features that transition beautifully into the natural Mesa environment. Enjoy the multiple decks, peaceful surroundings, sculptures, and spectacular views this unique home offers! The home is situated on the desirable and sought-after Mesa Bluff of Arroyo Grande overlooking the beautiful California Central Coast.

In addition to a glorious natural setting that showcases art, sculpture and landscape ... you'll enjoy a home that consists of approx. 3612 sq. ft. of living space with a floorplan that includes 3 master suites (each with its own bathroom). Uniquely designed, this home has been featured in several magazine articles such as Sunset Magazine and California Home & Design Magazine, where it recently won the 2009 CH&D Award for LANDSCAPE DESIGN.

Very few properties on the Central Coast of California have a landscape design on par with 2861 Mesa Alta Lane. The current homeowner commissioned Baywood Park Award winning Landscape Architect Jeffrey Gordon Smith to create the dream Asian-style garden. The goal was to create a welcoming space for enjoying the views of the ocean and hillside. As you can see the backyard from the front door, guests would pass right through the house to the deck outside. The project dubbed "The Pacific Rim" incorporates native and Mediterranean plants for an adaptation of Asian style to enhance the "East meets West" concept. Completed just a few years ago, the garden now features over 2,000 sq. ft. of Ipe decking which is framed with a patchwork of benches and concrete planters reminiscent of the quilted pattern of the surrounding farmland below. Smith commented that "the greatest things about Japanese gardens are the simple lines and the borrowed landscapes -- where you extend the garden by incorporating the view". Beyond the deck is a curving gravel walkway that meanders through beds of native Yarrow, New Zealand Windgrass, Manzanita and Pride of Maderia. According to designer Smith, "It's not only the color scheme but also the juxtaposition of the man-made and natural elements that ties the project together." When you see the connection between the forms and the landscape, the story really comes to life. The firepit adds a comfort level for the garden which is filled with crushed red glass and is paired with a planter of red-hued Echeveria "Afterglow".
